Reporting to the assigned Testing Services Department Coordinator, the Assessment Assistant is responsible for public-facing interactions carried out in a confidential, secure and welcoming manner. The primary function of this position is proctoring exams for students and community members. This includes all steps from check-in to check-out, following specified procedures. Exams may be on paper or multiple online platforms and may be required for course placement, program entry, courses/make-up, accommodations or certifications. Additional responsibilities include database entries, maintaining electronic and paper files, phones, emails, maintaining office forms and minor troubleshooting with online exams. This position works primarily out of the Sugar Grove or Aurora Downtown location but may be asked to report to other locations as the need arises.

Perform check-in processes by verifying identification, guiding customers on the use of the appointment software, locating and administering the appropriate paper or online forms, reviewing data in the student record system, promote test security by ensuring all belongings are stored in a locker, and provide customer with all instructions and materials needed for taking the exam.
Attain required certifications and demonstrate exam administration proficiency within multiple platforms.
Proctor paper or online exams in compliance with the requirements and regulations established by the testing center, testing vendor and any other overseeing authority.
Set up approved testing accommodations, which could be simple or require multiple technologies.
Ensure testing integrity by observing examinees via walking through the testing labs, using video surveillance equipment, and monitoring computer screens. Report any use of unauthorized materials or dishonest behavior. Complete the required forms when warranted.
Maintain a secure testing environment by promoting and adopting Learning Assessment and Testing Services' test security practices and confidentiality agreements.
Troubleshoot technology issues that may arise while the customers are taking tests.
Remain calm under pressure and balance multiple priorities.
Check-out customers by verifying the proper closing of programs, collection of papers and distribution of report or instructions to the customer. Inform customer of next steps where applicable.
Participate in occasional special test events such as off-site group exams.
Respect and uphold client confidentiality and maintain sensitive testing information.
Assist with database entries, maintain electronic and paper files, assist with phones, emails, and maintaining office forms.
Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager, Department Coordinators or Assessment Specialists.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.
Minimum one year of technical support, customer service or general office experience supporting a computer environment required.
Excellent computer literacy skills to include Microsoft Office, email, internet, and experience working in a networked environment.
Openness to learn new skills, programs and platforms.
Excellent interpersonal, confidentiality and organizational skills with the ability to carry out numerous instructions with accuracy.
Ability to stay calm under pressure; apply reason and logic when circumstances deviate from established procedures.
Ability to work evenings and assigned Saturdays.
