Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Generalist discipline focuses on oral health and hygiene through preventive and restorative services.
Position Summary:Provide instruction one-half day per week in pre-clinical courses and predoctoral clinics as defined by the Division Chair in consultation with the predoctoral and program directors.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Candidates must have a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS/DMD) degree or equivalent, and be eligible for a North Carolina dental license or instructor license.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Minimum of five years of experience in educating dental students in pre-clinical and/or clinical settings, or minimum of five years of experience in private general practice, or completion of an advanced dental education program. Candidates must demonstrate excellent clinical credentials, supervisory, organizational, mentoring, customer service, written and verbal communication skills, and a strong background in all aspects of general dentistry, including provision of care to individuals with special needs. Candidates should have experience in organizational and interpersonal skills, leadership, and a commitment to diversity, inclusivity and collegiality.
