3rd Class Engineer:

• Respond to emergency situations
• Perform preventative maintenance as required on a variety of equipment
• Maintain and record logs and checklists on an hourly and daily basis
• Keep area clean at all times
• Work shifts to maintain a manned shift under: MA General Laws Chapter 146

Essential Functions:

• Fires boilers, operates all auxiliary equipment such as compressors, pumps, and provides a continuous supply of steam to the hospital.
• Reads and interprets meter and gauges, records findings, adjusts equipment, controls and valves to maintain desire pressure and temperatures.
• Repairs / replaces defective piping, controls, pumps, and other parts of the boiler plant as needed.
• Keeps and maintains shift logs as required.
• Cleans, paints, and maintains work area as required.
• Works in a neat, professional manner recognizing the safety and health of themselves and others.
• Is aware of all policies and procedures as outlined in the standard operating procedures.
• Performs all other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
Education: HS graduate or GED

Experience: 5 years in trade with at least 2 years as a 3rd class engineer

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations: MA 3rd Class Stationary Engineers License required

Knowledge & Skills: Ability to work independently and manage emergency situations. Physically able to perform the responsibilities of this position.
